First Direct - Increase Overdraft and/or Credit Limit online

I've had a 1st account (£0 overdraft) and gold credit card (£500 limit) with first direct for around 6 months now.

If I click on the overdraft button, I am told

"apply - increase formal overdraft facility
If you wish to apply to increase your overdraft facility please call us on 03 456 100 100. You can apply 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Increases are subject to status.
"

If I click on the the increase credit limit, I am told

"Thank you...

Thank you for your request. Please call us on 03 456 100 100 to discuss your request for a credit card limit increase in more detail."

Can you actually apply for an overdraft/credit limit increase online with first direct (and I'm just not eligible), or do they require you to call each time?

    ?

FD require you to call them to apply for an increase in OD or CC limit, that's a standard practice for them. Anyway why haven't they give you a £250 O/D (interest free) which comes as standard with their current account?

    Bo they don't!

I have increased the limit of my FD gold card online up to £20k.

I believe their systems allow you to request an increase to an amount you are pre approved for online but if they are unwilling to lend to that level, require more information or it is going to be a decline they prompt you to call.

OP it may be that the credit limit you are asking for is too high so try a lower limit and see if it lets you do this online, if not give them a call.

With the OD, were you rejected for one when you applied for the account usually FD give an automatic £500 OD on account opening with £250 interest free?

You probably need to give them a call, you are a relatively new customer to them so they are probably wanting to establish why you are wanting both an OD increase and increase in credit limit on the credit card - are you funding the account with a salary credit or similar?
