Recieved ticket for parking in disabled bay without owning a blue badge

  • For those with the off-topic and pompous opinions, either your trolling this forum, or your here complaining about how your got your 'unfair' parking ticket because you were obviously in the right. You decide which you are.

Certainly there are those who disagree with me, but as I didn't prevent a blue-badge holder from parking in a marked bay, and Sainsburys redacted Horizons overzealous ticketing. You appear to be siding with Horizon, who is employed by Sainsburys, who in turn agrees with me.
I don't often say this OP but I think you should just pay it.
I informed the store manager who swiftly removed the ticket from my car, stating they will not be charging me.
No charge, no foul. And the manager agreed wholesomely that there was no offence parking in there car park. But I would like to understand the law for next time.
Are they overproviding BB spaces to catch people do you think?
The manager said they will be making addition parent bays available (for the second time). The store only opened 12 months ago, and they've made 3+ changes already. So you can't blame them for making changes when they see it necessary.

If a private car park is full, except for 20 empty disable bays; firstly, would the retailer rather turn custom away. And secondly, does the same apply, that a blue badge holder has more right than a non-blue badge holder to shop?

By preventing a non-blue badge holder the option to park, is that not discriminating?
half of that garbage from NIDirect.gov looks good , but is not applicable in a real world
Yes NIDirect does seem rather too clear cut to be true. Whilst it says they could not insist I moved, they could 'fine' me as per there terms.

I take it you live in Northern Ireland otherwise why would you have checked the NI web-site.

If that is indeed the case then you need do nothing at all.

The whole Private Parking Company thing is a scam, they issue Parking Charge Notices designed to look like genuine Penalty Charge Notices with the sole intention of frightening you into paying.

You need do nothing at all except ignore, ignore, and then ignore some more.

In Scotland and NI they can take no action unless they know who the driver was - so just don't tell them.

They will send letters to the registered keeper who has no legal requirement to reply or to tell them who the driver was, even if it's in reality one and the same person.

Do NOT contact them (or any debt collector leeches who may also write) and certainly do NOT tell them who the driver was.

horizons monkeys do not get a wage packet from Sainsbury,s

ie: the monkey was not an employee of the supermarket

Freddy - it's NOT garbage - it is perfectly correct info for Northern Ireland.

The signage states one must display a Blue Badge to park in the marked bays. So what is the law on private car parks regarding disabled bays?

On private land the law is contract law. The Blue Badge Regulations are not applicable. The terms of the contract should be displayed on the signs around the car park.

when I were a lad , we used to WALK to the supermarket , it was only a small shop then , mummy , daddy and 6 kids in tow.

you have been informed of the rules regarding private parking in England/wales and Scotland/NI , now stop taking the *iss and use some common sense when ushering your tiny ones the 8 ft to the door,

your attitude stinks , thinking you are god or a has been from a TV celebrity show ,

please try with your attitude after moving to England , even a small claims judge would laugh at you.

on second thoughts , why not write to horizon and have a go at them ,

please report back in a few weeks ,

perhaps my disabled person that was unable to walk the distance from the other end of the car park , whilst someone that was active , with children that had WORKING legs walked the 8 ft to the supermarket , and then caused a kick off with the manager.

perhaps not , however you are very selfish to other handicapped people

Wow, I thought you were having a go at me for a minute there Freddy. ;)

Just to make things clear for everyone - I tried to clarify the situation for the OP who still hasn't confirmed whether or not they do live in NI or not.

I make no comment or judgement on parking in Disabled spaces, but it's not something that I do personally - that's out of choice, not fear of any repercussions.

Now parent and sprog spaces - that's a different thing altog ........ :p

    Oh my.

How on earth did we manage before 'with child' parking spaces.

More trouble than they are worth IMO. Half the time people park in them with no children in tow anyway.

We should just have the disabled ones.

If a disabled person who chose to park at the other end of the car park was offended by me parking in a marked BB bay, maybe I should apologise to them? Or maybe suggest they stop complaining and park in one of the 20+ empty bays assigned for BB holders to the right of my car!
