O/S Daily Saturday 10th October 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Now light, dry underfoot, clear sky with sun shining but air is cool, feels very autumnal (sp).

DH and I are awake enjoying first peaceful cuppas of the day. Both boys still in their pits.

Dinner last night was prawns in black bean sauce, noodles, and egg fried veg rice, with some chinese accompaniments - prawn toast, mini pancake rolls and dumplings - all eaten and enjoyed and was delicious. Dinner tonight will be just DH and myself as boys are going to my parents for dinner and stay the night as DS2 has his driving experience tomorrow and my parents wanted to take him and DS1 is going also. I have a couple of lamb shanks in red wine gravy for our dinner tonight, I'll serve them with buttered new potatoes, carrots and broc, we'll wash it down with a chilled bottle of white wine.

We have a caravan meeting to go to today - but it's not too far away so we'll leave at lunchtime, and then by the time we get back the boys should have gone to my parents. Tomorrow we have another meeting but it's a good hour and a half away and the meeting is at 11am - so we'll need to be on the road by 8am, as we need to be there a good while before the meeting starts. We just have 1 more next Saturday and that's quite a way away again.

Yesterday I was reasonably productive, I did another load of washing that I managed to get line dried. Whilst I was in town did a couple of jobs that needed doing.

Have great Saturdays' everyone x

Keep safe and well x

Morning everyone from a very rainy Glasgow. Think the Indian summer has gone for good.

Plans today start with driving to Dumbarton to collect my new car :j and then back to Glasgow to take my mum shopping. Perhaps a bit of lunch whilst we're out too, and then I'll go home.

After that I have no idea, I'm sure the living room could use a vacuum and the back rooms need a sweep and wash. There's no washing to be done. I'm hoping I'll take time to catch up with the three NCIS programmes from last night.

    Happy Saturday everyone.
  • Morning one and all. Another nice day ahead for us by the sound of it. We are certainly getting spoiled!

Our visit to St James yesterday went ok, other than the clinic running an hour and a half late as usual! We finally got home at 6.30, tired and hungry. They were surprised to hear Mr TA had been accepted at the Royal Liverpool as they had not heard anything from them either before or after our appointment there last week! So obviously they couldn't update us on when the therapy will start. I think I will ring liverpool myself if we haven't heard by say Tuesday.

Today is earmarked for a dust and vac round and the bathroom to clean. Jobs neglected this week with one thing and another.

Have a good day all ((((((HUGS)))))) if wanted/needed and take care xx

  • Good morning all,

Thank you nmic for getting us started.

No rain at the moment and th sky looks quite bright. We need to pop to the SM for a few things and then we are going to make a start on cleaning ur carpets. My new Vax was delivered yesterday so can't wait to get started.

DGD is probably going to be away overnight, so will probably do the living room carpet late evening so it can dry overnight without us walking on it.

Himself will be watching the Russian Grand Prix tomorrow so not a lot of conversation tomorrow afternoon:):)

    Have a good day all

    Hi all,

DH and a couple of mates have headed to the North Island to visit the Tank Museum, so I have a day on my own, which I am weirdly excited about :)

I plan to have a clean up this morning, get some ironing done and clean the hard floors, then this afternoon, I will watch Bridget Jones (recorded) with a glass of wine and some chilli crisps - decandant or what.........

DH plans to eat before coming home tonight, so I will make scrambled egg on toast for me, just because I fancy it.

We found a neighbor's Tom cat sat outside our bedroom door this morning, not happy, as our youngest girl cat has been weeing in the house the past couple of days - this must be why - he,s an unneutered, and must be spraying - I,ve ordered a microchip activated cat flap so only our 4 can get in - I wish people would have their cats 'done'

  • Good Morning everyone, we had the most amazing sunrise this morning and the whole sky was a beautiful rosy pink, it looks as though we're in for a nice dry day too. He Who Knows is out walking Cookie and I'm off to tidy and vacuum in a couple of minutes.

My lovely nephew embarked on the adventure of his young life on Thursday, he's not been able to find a permanent job since he graduated just over a year ago and has flown off to Australia for a year to work his way round the country and gain some life experience. He's a good lad and a hard little grafter so I'm sure he'll give value for money to anyone who ends up giving him some work and hopefully he'll gain a fair amount of life experience and come back in a much better position for employment. Good luck Tim, we'll miss you but I'm Oh so proud of you for doing it!!!

Off to a countryside event some time today, lucky for us that the weather is so benign and will meet my brother and sister in law there, they are feeling 'empty' as Tim is an only and they are a very close little family unit. They miss him already so a day out in the sun will hopefully make them feel a tiny bit better.

Have yourselves a nice day, Lyn xxx.
  • Morning all

I'm being lazy today, no change there then I hear you say.

The fish have been fed & hubby has a cuppa.

I shall get dressed in a sec & go to the bakers to buy some fresh rolls for lunch.

I have washing ready to hang out & the DW needs unloading.

I have some lovely Neal's Yard items to bag up and pass out to my customers, I happy with how it's all going so far, I also need to give out the Christmas catalogues that people are clamouring for.

We are visiting MIL tomorrow & trying to persuade BIL to visit her, he isn't coping well at all.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Good morning everyone,

Looks like another lovely day again, although I think there was a little rain in the night. I'm just waiting to put my first load on the washing line.

I need to give the house a really good clean, as I haven't touched it all week:eek:

I also need to go and do a good shop today, however I am waiting for my new phone to be delivered, as my last one finally died on me this week and DH couldn't get it to work again:rotfl:

DS and DH out at work at the moment. DD is going to take around her cv's this morning to see if she can get herself a little Saturday job, and then she's meeting a friend who I think is coming back to stay the night with us.

I also need to make some bread and do some baking.

Looking forward to Strictly tonight. Have a good day everyone.

  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Yesterday's histrionics past, he is walking ok, Dr says arthritis, which I had already told him. He is popping paracetamol like sweeties. Did not stop him from going out last night, he is up dressed and ready to go out today. I am still in bed, did not sleep well, think I may have a cold on its way. Cannot remember, beer when I last had a cold.

Will get up shortly, we are going to a local art show and then on to the garden centre to order the rest of the slate for the side of the house. It's still quite misty, but we are told the mist will clear and we should have a nice day.
