Driving along a back street, cars parked along the right side and another driver (coming the opposite way) clipped my wing mirror. They were too far over my side, and I have it on camera as proof.
Basically, the driver got aggressive, said there was no damage but said it was on camera and then got details.
I messaged the driver and said £50 for respray - the person says "come to *x address* and my mate will do it" - this is 40 minutes away from me by the way. I said, "I would prefer to go to my local bodyshop as he has my paint code", but they replied saying, "well its 50/50 my wing mirror is damaged too, are you going to pay for that?"
I dont know what to do next. Its £50, but I shouldnt be paying for it, and my excess outweighs the costing...

For the sake of £50 I would get it done myself at the right place and move on with life. The consequences of taking this thru insurance (even claiming from theirs) will be a lot of hassle. Some things are worth fighting for and for the sake of such a small amount I wouldn't bother on this one.Thinking critically since 1996....0

at this stage it may be too risky to "not disclose to insurer", if the other party discloses then it would leave OP in muddy water. You should probably notify your insurer as notification only (no claim), it will increase your premium but it's better to be safe this way. If the other party agreed to pay out of pocket for your damage you can accept that they will remain "silent", but since they're not playing ball they have nothing to lose so they may just tell their insurer that you hit them.0

I'd tell the third party that its not a problem. You'll pass the claim and footage to your insurance company and let them decide.
Hopefully that will focus his mind when faced with loss of NCB or increased premiums.0 -
Post up the footage on youtube and post a link on here. Leave a space somewhere on the link, I'm sure it'll let a "newbie" do that.0

£50 for a Mini Cooper S mirror?
That's cheap.
Is it real or imaginary?0
