let the fun begin - setting up new laptop

after all the fun i had setting up my daughters laptop to my wireless network i am here again....

any help step by step setting up please? i tried but kept getting my daughters laptop which she has blocked of course, cannot pick my pc up - is it anything to do with his laptop is vista and my pc is xp?

am using linksys 2.5ghz as my wireless with virgin wireless

  • there have been lots of networking problems between xp and vista. have u setup them up to actually share the folders on a network? its under network connections..

    It's nothing to do with your daughters "blocked laptop" or "picking up your PC". You need to establish a connection with your Linksys wireless router.

    Well I'm not using Vista here but do you have your WiFi switched on and an icon in your system tray. Can you see your wireless router when you scan for available networks? You will need the encryption key to enter in order to connect to your secure router.

  • ow sorry i thought u was trying to file share across the network. ow if its just ur wireless. its easy as a button to setup. i think that link above is a tutorial
