Do you still do the Lottery?

  • I'm about £900 ahead on the lottery (well, my choice of numbers and my gran's quid) we once got five numbers years ago, but it was when all the numbers were multiples of four, so the prize pot was very heavily divided and we got about £996, the previous week had about £10k for five. I have quit while I'm ahead and it makes it much easier to abstain.
Same thing for other types of gambling - I am about 3.50 up on racing bets (sheer luck at a hen do) and about 90p ahead on the bandit in the local pub (in the late 90s and again just luck). I doubt I can improve these outcomes by throwing more money into the pot, especially since the change in lotto odds, so it's definitely a no-go for me these days.

I do like MITSTM's perspective on premium bonds though - a lovely way to look at things:)

I don't think you'll be alone in that. In the space of 6 months they have doubled the price and substantially decreased the odds of winning big. I think I will give it till 31st Dec and call it a day.
