Christmas comp, daily entry (more or less - each comp is available for 2 weeks), been running for a week or so now. It's been linked to the dailies rather than advents (which is fair enough, no criticism intended - thanks to the posters!).

But it made me think (again - I've had this confusion before LOL) - should the Advents thread only be for comps starting 1st Dec, or is there a different distinction.... or is it just personal taste, similarly to whether weeklies are posted as an ongoing thread or afresh each week?

And in case I haven't already said it - many many thanks to sleepyjones for being willing to take on the thread!

They might have labeled it an Advent but it closes almost as soon as Advent (29/11) officially starts.

No worries, CornishPasty1 has added it to the dailies instead :)

They are supposed to be posted afresh each week on the main board and not just once with the final date (if known)

but I agree they should probably all be the same so all on the main board and a new thread for each draw

ETA: yes it seems that people would like them all posted new each week so there wouldn't be a need for the weekly thread

Or posted on the regulars board, as Glad says later in your quote. That's always been my preference - but I know I'm in the minority!

But as far as Advents go... is the intention to include only comps starting 1st Dec or later? I have no strong preference myself, just want to get it right if I do post any.

The ETA made it all week by week on the main and the weekly thread index stopped being updated ages ago - With the exception of the click to wins just about everything is or should have a post on the main - for the convenience of users some of these are then linked to threads in regulars.

as well as the bit before that

Doesn't matter to me either, I suppose generally people might be looking to the thread for live "advent" competitions anytime from 28/11 but if there are earlier ones on there they will have individual post on the main board so they will/can have been seen anyway.

i thought the general 'rule' was anything that says it's an advent/countdown to christmas comp goes in the advent thread, regardless of when it starts ... ?:)
  • Thank you for doing this.

I have taken on board the advice provided, and have a spreadsheet ready to go :)

Any advice on searching for advents? I thought I might be able to find and post a few now we are into November, but all I've found so far are one off Christmas related comps.

Is it still too early to be looking?

Sorry for asking what you old regulars know but where exactly would I find the advent postings? Are they on the main thread mixed in with the other comps.YES I have read the sticky on the subject by sleepyjones but I'm still a bit confused about what I'm doing. Thanks for all the hard work some of you do.I really appreciate it
