I've forgotten one of my infrequently used gmail passwords.
I only use that account twice a year as it is where I get insurance quotes sent to avoid clogging up my main email account.
I can still get into the account even after a year as I never signed out of it.
How can I actually view my password instead of a row of asterisks?

Not sure if this will work, delete the row of asterisks, then click on "forgot password", they should then send a reminder or request to reset.
Or delete email completely and set up a new one.

Almost no site that has any kind of decent security will allow you to view your password, even when you're logged in to the account. Consider the scenario - you log in, have to nip to the loo and forget to log out, someone else pops in and gets your password.
A reset link might work, as derrick said, as long as you can still retrieve your emails.0 -
If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0

It is probably your browser that has remembered the password, just look for show saved passwords or similar in tools.0

on Computer using CHROME browser
In the upper-right corner of your window, click the Chrome menu Chrome menu.
Choose Settings.
At the bottom of the page, click Show advanced settings.
Under "Passwords and forms", click Manage passwords. A dialogue will appear with a list of saved passwords.
In the dialogue that opens, the "Saved passwords" section shows all of your saved passwords.

You can set up a recovery email account. So your main email account can be your recovery account. It's in the settings of Gmail or u can put in your mobile number to recover your password and gmail will sms you0

What browser are you using?
If it's firefox install the "Password Exporter" add-on:
https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/2848
https://github.com/fligtar/password-exporter/wiki
Using it you can view all stored logins for websites and their passwords.Laters

Why installing an add-on for one password? Just go into Settings -> Security -> Saved Passwords...
But the OP uses Chrome. It's under Advanced Settings there.0 -
But the OP uses Chrome
No I don't.
I use different browsers.
This one is in Opera and has never been closed.
I normally click on a shortcut on my desktop to get this particular email.
I've just made a new email address. Probably forget this password in a year.over 73 but not over the hill.0
