Some door handle springs can be wound one extra turn to make them stiffer.

Hi,

you could give each handle a liberal coating of heavy duty grease, and then sprinkle with a good nippy pepper to keep little paws and nosey nose away. :rotfl:

Thanks but the dogs letting herself in whilst were out, I wouldn't get a wedge in position for that plus i may not be able to get in myself it i could.

I might have a look at the mechanism inside to see if i can bend the spring round a bit.

I'd thought of something similar to the grease and pepper, but I'd thought of smearing mustard on, the dog though, jumps up and paws the handle down, I don't think she'd mind if it stunk, plus I don't fancy grease/mustard on my settee, bed sheets.

What I've been trying to do, (and it's only a day into action) is closing the offending doors whilst i'm in the house, a couple of times the dog has tried her trick to let herself into the room, when she does she gets told off. Hopefully this will instill that she's not allowed to open doors.

That said when I got in from work yesterday she was stood on my windowsill poking her head out of the blinds.
