How can that have anything to do with the changes? How would capping the charge to retailers at 0.3% result in retailers not taking card payments below £45 :rotfl:

The new rules make 0.2% the maximum they COULD charge for accepting a debit card - paying cash into a bank would cost them at least 1-2%.
Makes no sense to me either - the particular shop I went to said this charge took effect from 1/11 - perhaps just coincidence then that the new charges come in to effect then?0 -

I feel like that'll be a policy that won't be around for long...if they want to stay in business anyway.0
