credit limit affecting my credit score

My credit score was in fair for almost six months and showed no signs of improving or decreasing. It just sat there at the same score. So I followed some advice and took out a credit card to try and improve this. I was offered a limit of £1,200 but was adamant I didn't need that much and told them I didn't want a limit of more than £250. This is now affecting my credit score because I don't have a limit of over £1000. My credit score has decreased and my credit card company won't look at reviewing my limit til january.I have been in touch with experian and they have said it will continue to have a negative affect until my credit limit is raised over £1000 which is ridiculous. Does anyone have any advice on what I can do?

Yes - ignore the score. It's irrelevant and good use of your card will help you build a positive credit history (not score, which no one sees and doesn't matter).0
