in Credit cards
I have a Barclaycard - had it for 26 years. Always pay off the balnce in full.
I paid off the full balance last month (3 weeks before the due date).
I received the next statement which doesnt show the payment I made - phoned them up, and they have no trace of it. Its not showing on my Debit Card statement either.
Sadly, I didnt make a note of the transaction number which confirms payment being made - and to be honest, in 6 years of online payments, I ve never needed to make a note of it. I know thats my fault - but I DID make the payment like I religiously have for many years.
I phoned them up - and they said they would look into it - but 3 days on, no change in status.
Ive now been hit with a 'late payment charge' + any interest.
Any hope for me?

it looks like the transaction was in some way aborted.. maybe you forgot to confirm.
anyway maybe you can try explaining what happened and saying you always pay on time etc etc and ask them to cancel the charges.0 -
Thanks Clapton - will try in the morning. If I get no joy, I might just cut the card up and say 'good riddance'0

As you always pay your Credit Card account in full each month - why haven't you set up a Direct Debit to do just that? It is then impossible to miss a payment - your bill even confirms that it will be paid on a certain date.".....where it is corrupt, purge it....."0

Hi "the tired one"
This has happened to me and hubbie a few times in the past. I've written to the company concerned and explained that we're long standing and loyal customers, we always pay our bills on time, explained what happened, apologied and asked for the charges to be reconcidered, and we've always received a rebate.
Good luck.
