Bank charges from old Abbey National now Santander

Options
Hello

I was wondering how I'd go about trying to claim back bank charges from the old Abbey National bank, now Santander.

I had charges added to charges and a CCJ registered against me for the monies owed, which has now expired.

Many thanks

On what basis do you think you can request that?

  • Hiya, thanks for your reply.

I'm not sure if I can claim them back or not hence my question.

I'm getting automated phone calls on a daily basis just about, asking me if I need help claiming back my bank charges, and I wondered if I could do it since they've been taken over and I no longer bank with them.

I successfully claimed back PPI on bank loans and credit cards, so this was my next step.

    Did you pay the CCJ?
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
  • Yes, I did. Will that make a difference to claiming?

    Thanks

I suspect it is packaged bank charges they are on about. I have had several like that myself. After the banks won the "unfair" bank charges court case, the reclaiming of bank charges (overdraft, bounced items etc) died a death unless you are in current financial hardship or incorrect application.
