Claiming Bank Charges from an Account thats been sold on

Hello,
Not sure if this is in the right section.
Basically I am helping out a friend trying to get their finances sorted.
They have a debt to Nationwide of about £450 which is purely made up of unpaid DD/SO fees etc. The account was sold to MKDP who I have found absolutely hopeless to deal with.
My question is, is it worth trying to persue the charges from the original creditor or would MKDP be better to deal with, ot is it just not worth the hassle?!
