My mum has been a council tenant for many years her rent includes a charge for heating and hot water which us always paid in advance. It is this payment that l am asking for help on.
We have and are in contact with the housing department and SSE my frustration is we keep hit our heads against a brick wall . We tell them what is happening to no avail.
I was just posting to see if anyone was aware of a avenue that l might not have considered.
Constructive replies welcomed - thank you
Well I'm hoping that wasn't directed at me either (behave Laurensalive
) - I've tried being constructive in each of my responses.
However, the response doesn't change - including the possibilty of you not getting the answers you want to hear. [Text removed by MSE Forum Team]0 -

If your only aim is to be constructive then in my view some of your posts do not do you justice.0 -
As l stated my aim in posting was to try and get some help, ideas. I may not have put this as clearly on my original post. This however, is not want l intended. while l welcome comments l do feel that some have not been constructive and stated this. I respect our right to have our own opinions, however l strongly feel that there are people who post on these forums out of a genuine need ,not knowing what to do and sometimes airing these thoughts stimulates ideas. To receive comments on my changing words from horrendous to distressing To my mind is totally unnecessary . Thank you0

I apologise for how you have interpreted my posts, but you see, in order for anyone to offer constructive advice, we need to fully understand the situation and the problems you are experiencing.
It was not you changing the word 'horrendous' for 'distressing' I referred to but rather you claimed in your OP that SSE were sending your mum "threatening letters". When I questioned that, you then simply said it was 'distressing' to receive them.
You see, I would offer completely different advice to you if the letter was indeed 'threatening', compared to what you now describe as 'distressing'
As it turned out, you then posted part of the letter your mum received, and whilst your mum may have been distressed by it, as BoA said, it was factual, and as SSE in the letter stated they "are required by law to inform you ..."
As BoA went on to say, they were simply advising "in a timely fashion that due to non-payment measures are being taken to fit a PPM", something I would agree is "good that they're flagging it early!"
You originally referred speaking to the council as "absolutely horrendous", but when challenged on that, explained what you really meant was that they were "far from being helpful", and I gave you what I maintain was good advice on how to deal with that situation.
I apologise if the response I provided was not the response you wanted to hear. But it does not change the quality of the advice provided ... I maintain it is good advice and is supported by posts by BoA too.0 -
