carpet cleaning issue

just had our downstairs carpets cleaned on monday. all fine except our fitted coir matt by the front door (around 1.5mt square) was also cleaned and this appears to have stretched and rippled.
called the carpet cleaner on the tuesday and he said that was normal and it would shrink back to correct size when fully dried out.

well it's thursday now and it's still pretty much the same. this matt was over £200 to fit some years ago so i don't want to lose it but can anyone tell me if there is still hope it may yet return to its former size or is it ruined?

Comments

  • If it has stretched slightly and doesn't shrink back, perhaps it can be re-cut to size and refitted.
  • I am thinking this will have to be the way to go.
    I can't see it regaining it's size/shape unfortunately.
  • I presume he cleaned your carpets with water (hot water extraction) if this is the case he should NOT have cleaned a coir mat with water and if he was a proper trained carpet cleaner he would have known that. This type of material can only be cleaned with a dry cleaning type material but the results are often poor.
