Any experiences with Linden Homes?

Hi everyone

First time poster - I'm looking to buy a new home, preferably a new build (that's already built I hope!) as I can't find an older one with a balcony and big windows... It seems that none of the main builders in my area (TaylorWimpey, Bellway, etc.) have particularly great reviews on the internet though people only seem to post bad stories.

I'm wondering if anyone has experience with Linden Homes? I've never heard of them, but saw a house I like... obviously I want to make the right decision so any advice would be great!

Thanks

pieboy

They are a decent builder as far as new build builders go. But you get what you get with the vast majority of new builds, ie over-priced, cramped layout, small plots, low cost construction techniques (dry lined walls, minimal finish) etc, etc.

Linden Homes acquired shepherd homes not long ago, so essentially they are Shepherd Homes!

They are all about as good/bad as each other, remember you are more likely to review a housing company during the stressful time of moving if it's negative. Not many people will come on line to give good comments during move/first few months of living in their new home.

We have a Taylor Wimpey and have to say am impressed. Yes you pay a little extra as everything is new, the building is not as well built as a house from the 1800's but at least it has foundations and is thermally efficient!

Pro's and con's to both, I like the newnesss, the cheap to run, the 10 year warranty. I don't like the lack of character and the smaller garden, but then I didn't have an extra £150k at the time for a house similar size with land and character!

I bought a new Linden Homes House near Wokingham 10 years ago and overall I thought they were very good and the house was finished to a nice standard and any snags were dealt with promptly. Compared to the stories I hear about the bigger builders then I would probably buy off them again if I was going for a new build.
