Barclays Additions claim rejected

I had paid for a number of years a Barclays additions account.
My account was upgraded in branch at the counter in 2001 while I was withdrawing money i was advised that I needed to upgrade in order to keep my overdraft.
To cut a long story short some years later about 2010 I realized that the account additions was not worth the paper it was written due to a pre existing medical complaint as such i cancelled the policy.
I have complained to Barclays in regard to this hoever Barclays have rejected the claim due to the claim being out of time (time barred).
Is it worth taking this up with the FCA as when I closed the account I did not know you could claim for mi-selling bank accounts...

You cannot complain to the FCA as they do not handle consumer complaints. The FCA set the guidelines. There are two timebars. 6 years and 3 years. You have 6 years from the sale or 3 years from being reasonably aware of an issue to make a complaint. Whichever gives you the longer.
In your case you exceed both the 3 year and 6 year timebar and the timebar seems fairly executed in this case.hen I closed the account I did not know you could claim for mi-selling bank accounts...
You can complain about whatever you like. Its not a claim. Its a complaint.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
