Statutory redundancy and notice periods?

My husband got made redundant on Friday, no notice , the administrators have come in.
He has been employed there for 19 years.
He has applied from the government for the statutory redundancy. He knows he will get up to 12 weeks notice pay as well.
However, next week he has the option of working a temporary contract for 1 week, although it may work out to be longer.
If he takes the 1 weeks work, does he then lose the whole 12 weeks notice pay? Also, after that week is up can he still claim JSA?

No, he wouldn't lose the owed £ as its statutory and in any event the Govt scheme will take time to pay out.
Yes, he can now - or after that week - claim JSA.
He'll be entitled to contribution-based JSA, which he can claim online. As you may know this is paid irrespective of capital/savings and is paid fortnightly in arrears for 6 months.
The first week is unpaid as these are known as 'waiting days' for new claims and so he is best claiming asap (he was entitled to on Saturday). Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.0 -
Sorry to disagree. This happened to me two years ago. The 12 weeks starts from the day he was made redundant. Any money earned and benefits claimed in the next twelve weeks WILL be deducted from the final figure. Even if you don't claim JSA it will be taken anyway, as they expect you to.
It is not fair, but that is the way it is I am afraid.0
