Price for installing unvented direct tank....
Hi all,
I am wondering whether some one can help me????????
I have a small size corner shop in Bexley. Last week the council popped-in the shop and ask me to arrange a continuous supply of hot water in the toilet and kitchen. I called a boiler installer who recommenced me to go for an unvented direct hot water cylinder as I don't have a gas connection to the premisses. If their is some one knowledgeable about this system, will be highly appreciated if you could answer the following?
1) Is their any cheaper option that I could go for?
2) How much will that cost roughly?
3) Is their any one you can recommend me in the Bexley area?
4) How much roughly will it cost to install an unvented direct tank?
Thanks.
SAM

An unvented hot water cylinder of more than 15 litres must be installed by a plumber with a certificate in Unvented Hot Water.
If it's just for hand-wash then you can get over-sink water heaters which are fairly straightforward to plumb in to a mains cold water pipe and need an ordinary 13 A socket or fused spur for electricity, eg

That's an 'instant' one, it'll be like washing your hands under a dribble, but will meet council regulations for handwashing. If you need hot water for washing-up staff tea things then you'll need a small storage water heater eg

Similar arrangements for water and electricity connection.
If you actually have food preparation on the premises then you'll need a proper hot water system.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
A Thermal store will allow you to have mains pressure hot water, without the unvented hassle. Mains pressure cold water passes through a coil inside the cylinder, and gets heated up. The cylinder itself is just a pool of hot water, open vented.
Put a shattaf in the toilet. Clean hands AND clean bottom.0 -

If you have no other need than for hot water for the toilet & kitchen, then you should be able to get an electric hot water heater (a bit like an electric shower) that comes on only as hot water is drawn from the tap.
Cheap to buy, cheap to install and cheap to run if its just for occassional hand washing purposes. You probably will need two, one for the kitchen & one for the toilet.
As in any expenditure, get a few quotes to establish cost.0
