Payment to Income Collection Service.

I received a bill from the Council's Income Collection service to pay £559.26 for the leaseholder service charge. It was dated 1/10/2015. I paid on the same day the full amount using their online service.
Today I receive a letter in the post from them saying: Thank you for choosing to pay the invoice(s) listed above by monthly instalments. Please ensure you make the payments as scheduled below." Below that is a table outlining a payment schedule. This letter also had the same date as the initial bill, 1/10/2015.
Is this just an automated response they send and I should just ignore it?
Thanks

since none of us know what council you are at or anything about what you are asking why not simply ask the council themselves.
The internet is a fine place if you want to listen to guesses, but not much use for real answers to specific instances0 -
Income collection service sounds so dodgy! Not saying it is, but surely the council could've named it better!0

When it comes to nomenclature, local council bureaucrats are euphemism central. My Council has a 'Civic Amenity Site'; everyone else calls it the 'tip'.
But momentarily returning to the OP- sounds completely normal. Why send one bill when three will do? And I bet they sent in in a large envelope, not a small one so they could spend another £1.26 of your money on postage rather than only 63p?
Next year you'll stagger-pay it by standing order or direct debit, yeah? I do, but I still get about a dozen bills, estimates, revised bills and statements every year; all by snail mail despite 'em knowing my e-address?
But having slagged off Councils, might I add, to compensate, that in practical terms, mine is really efficient- especially the Dust. (sorry- I mean environmental maintenance operativivos)0 -

Fair point. I work in comms, so i've seen my share of PC dept names.
Typical blue sky, outside the box thinking.

Last year, in spite of paying the suggested amount each month for council tax, I ended up with a bill for £36 odd. I paid it in two installments online. I continued getting ever more threatening 'you must pay now or you will be taken to court' letters. Turned out the payments were being accrued to this years council tax rather than last years (their system - inspite of having corrrect reference numbers on the payments) so the amount was still officially down as being owed. One quick phone call and it was sorted, even though I still think it was insane, the person on the other end of the phone had to do quite a bit of fiddling to get the payments accrued to the year the money was owing for.
