Boiler service

Hi,
Just wanted to see what people's thought are. I have moved into my new flat and how the kitchen has been designed means the boiler is in the corner and has been boxed in by two cupboards either side which are removal with tools etc. My issue is British Gas can't service it as the cupboards are in the way and I can't afford to lose the cupboards forever as my kitchen is tiny and the builder advised me to remove the cupboards, get British Gas go service it and then him put the cupboards back up but he can't guarantee there won't be damage to the cupboards. If I weren't to service my boiler annually that means I would have up remove and install the cupboards every year which is a complete faff so does anybody know a) how often people service their boiler and b) has anybody had a similar situation and what was the solution? I initially thought the builder could make and install s custom built cupboard that could slide on a rail so if I needed a service I could slide the cupboard off but when I suggested that he didn't think it would be possible and I'm not in the know either but surely there must be a better solution than having to remove the cupboards every time I have a service which tends to be annually.

Is this a new build?
I'd question of it is legal to box the boiler in like that. I'm sure someone on here might be able to answer that.
To answer your other question - never had a boiler serviced. It gets fixed when it goes wrong!0 -
Your boiler will have servicing dimensions that any cupboards should have been fitted to, if your builder has fitted these cupboards & you can't service it then he's a prat, if it's a new boiler then it's not only the service that will be a prob any warentee calls won't be done eitherI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Why not get a normal gas safe plumber to do the servicing? I'd imagine british gas have lot of red tape and rules on what their people are allowed to do and will think of any excuse not to do work, especially if it's on one of those expensive pre-paid plans that they push.0

It can't be right to "permanently" box in a boiler. Is your flat a recent conversion by a private builder? Are you renting or have you bought the flat? It doesn't sound safe or legal to me.
Even if you chose to not get the boiler serviced, you need access in an emergency, if it broke down in the depths of winter. It's difficult to exactly picture your layout without seeing it. I'm finally able to have my kitchen refitted and my boiler is going in a fitted cupboard with two opening doors. I think it's essential.0 -

an engineer is there to do a job either a service or a breakdown, they haven't priced or there to spend an hour removing unitsI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
