Extra tall kitchen wall/larder cabinets?

We are in the process of planning a new kitchen and we want cupboards right up to the ceiling (just over 2.5m). We will have some larder/appliance housing cupboards and some wall units so need something like 2.4m tall units, and about 1m wall cupboards. Ikea do this but I don’t want an Ikea kitchen. Benchmarx do the tall larder units, but no wall units to go alongside them which makes no sense.
Does anyone know anywhere that do these size cupboards?
Budget is less than 15k (preferably much less) for a 4.5 x 3m kitchen so made to measure not an option.

B&Q Cook & Lewis have 900mm wall units, perhaps add a plinth to finish off the unit to ceiling space. Builders merchants might help you.***Dont save what is left after spending, spend what is left after saving***0

DIYkitchens.com have
1970mm tall units are designed for use with 720mm wall units.
2150mm tall units are designed for use with 900mm wall units.
Cutpricekitchens do 2173 high units but not sure if that extra inch is relevant.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
Signature do extra tall cabinets. If you're in the Midlands and South West, Leekes stock them:

IKEA kitchens were ranked amongst the best by Which? along with John Lewis!0

I emailed diy kitchens and they don't do anything taller than 900. We need larger than 900 to fill the space, and larger than 2173 for the larder ones.
We had an ikea utility room and I was really unimpressed by the quality. Also there's the problem with the integrated dishwasher door as we have recently bought a new integrated dishwasher. Also they don't do the bridging cabinets for american style fridge freezers and it would be difficult without the gap at the back of the cupboards for pipes.
Thanks for the suggestion of signature, I'll look into that. Also I hadn't even thought of john lewis (even though that wasn't really a recommendation) so I'll look at that - though I doubt they do larger than 900.0 -
Hi cyantist
You won't find what you are looking for from the nationals or DIY chains. You need an Independent Kitchen Specialist, not all will do what you want but nevertheless an independent is where you need to go.
Decent independents will do 2 or 3 different makes of kitchens which helps them to design and sell kitchens at many levels and some will have the degree of 'bespoke-ness' that you are looking for.
If you post what area you are in then you could get some more specific recommendations.

I am not sure the answer necessarily lies with an Independent Retailer. You need someone who retails fairly high quality kitchens, mainly European. Nationals and a lot of independents still source kitchens where doors are made up from standard available door panels and I think 1200mm is the tallest available size. Someone could get a carcase made for you to take one of these doors but you will need fairly hefty fixings to take the weight plus extra hinges to take the door.
Tall unit heights are usually restricted by access and transport restrictions. Its no use making a 2.5m tall units if you cant transport it. Thought also needs to be given to how the tops of your wall units line up with tall units, so you need top boxes on top of tall units.
A number of European manufacturers do a 'top box' solution, which is the answer to your question. One of our suppliers lets us to a height of 2.7m where the restriction is the max size of raw material for cladding panels.
Hope this helps. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
A 2.4m unit could have 2 x 1.2m door panels which would be ideal for us, if that is the maximum height.
The problem of lining up the units at the top is why we need the taller wall units and the taller full height units. At Ikea, they had a lot of display kitchens featuring the 2.4m cabinets, coupled with 1m wall units. These lined up perfectly and had a good gap between the countertop and the wall units. In terms of height, the Ikea units are perfect for us but there’s not enough variety of widths, unit types, and door fronts for us.
CKdesigner - we are in South West Hertfordshire if you know any independent retailers that could help in that area.0 -
Don't know what size they are but I've just had these fitted in my kitchen by Wickes. love them!0
