Winter wonderland conservatory?

Hi,
This is my first post on the website - I'm after some conservatory related advice! We're just planning what to do with our new one as we don't want it to sit there unused all winter.
We're thinking of turning ours into a winter wonderland and wondered if anyone had ever done anything similar? If possible we'd like to include wood-effect walls, an open fire, maybe some indoor fir trees and potentially fake snow at Christmas! Something a bit like an alpine ski lodge.
If anyone can offer advice about whether this is do-able (especially the open fire bit) please get in touch!
Thanks,
Katie

It is to be hoped this is a wind-up thread, like the recent one about putting real coal on a gas coal fire, but in case it isn't, I'll just say that an open fire without a flue in any enclosed space is a very bad idea.0
-
I realise that would be an issue - I want to create something that looks as close to that as possible though! What about a flue that goes into the glass roof?0
-
The easiest thing would be to remove a couple of panels from the roof, that should sort out the ventilation problems :rotfl:
Seriously though, assuming this isn't a wind-up, an open fire is a non-starter. I guess it would be possible to have a proper flue installed, but you'd be looking at seriously big money to have it done properly and safely.
I suppose you could look at one of those "flame-effect" electric fires, but again a good one isn't going to be cheap, and it needs to be installed properly.0 -
Open fire would not be possible, but an electric fire with a "flame effect" lightshow would be a good alternative. Also you could just have the lightshow running as opposed to the heater itself which would be useless in a conservatory.0

Installed properly? All you need to do is plug it in using the supplied 13A plug...

Thank you for the tips!
Has anyone ever done anything like this in their house? I am wondering how much it will all cost! (And whether I will regret the snow)0 -
