You are completely missing the point, which is that if house prices are crashing, then the rest of the economy will be in trouble. So those bears who are hoping for a house price crash, will find that buying a house won't be so easy in a crash, with unemployment rising etc. etc. I wasn't saying that the economy was booming, or that house prices can't crash, I am saying house prices don't crash independently of what the overall economy is doing.
As for someone assuming that property is immune to a correction, that is way beyond silly (I would say !!!!!!), were they born after 2007/8? There have been significant corrections is the 70's, 80-90's and 2008!
