The only relevant advice that matters right now , today , is to get the gas fire looked at by a gas safe engineer , all the other points have been answered already

Thank you. I will be looking to getting it serviced first, and then install a carbon monoxide alarm to keep a eye on it.

Then we are going to save up a little bit of money and work on each window at a time :) still undecided if keep the wooden frames, and repair them as it would be cheaper then replacing them with pvc, or replace them one by one with up to date windows, I worry about the amount of heat that escapes out the windows.

Hello Adrian. I wanted to share my story on how I got bad credit.
i got my first credit card with credit limit of 1000. I was working full time making about 1800 month. Back them credit was excellent. I later switched jobs and got a need new car. Still all was good. I then ended up consigning for my mom for a new car.(bad idea) She later got sick and went on disability and 35000 car got repossessed debt is 17000 after auction. I then had to pick up slack around house rent etc. I then got a behind on my own car and credit card and it got closed but continued to make payments.. That car was later totaled from an accident and I had gap but they didn't take care of late fees and interest fees. I never settled the debt like a dummy. I then got another car and then got into big time legal trouble(DUI, lesson learned) i had to get a $2000 lawyer through payday loans and then got severely behind on my closed credit card and my open credit card. I have a couple of collection accounts and I have a horrible payment history. Just recently paid down both open and closed credit cards below the 40% mark and I hope I can renuild my credit. The used car I financed last year got totaled last month and paid for was never late.
I currently owe on old auto loan 2200. I have 2 collection accounts equaling about 900 combined.
Now I'm trying to improve all the situation, hope I'll do it. Read firstlibertyloans.com/blog/personal-loans-for-bad-credit-are-there-for-those-who-need-them, may be it also will help you. Generally I found some tips from this blogfirstlibertyloans.com/blog useful, especially with regard to saving $. Good luck!

No sadly we don't have savings, what ever we bring in is eaten by outgoings. Plus I read on here its best to pay of your debt before having savings, but I do want to have a backup fund for when things go wrong in the house. eventually!

How will you afford the repayments on the new finance then?
You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose.
  • Don't replace wooden windows.

Instead get some quotes to have them repaired and repainted.

Most of the wood is probably absolutely fine. The worst parts they will cut out and replace.

You'll save thousands, and you'll still have wooden windows instead of those horrible plastic ones that so many houses have now.

  • Year old thread, raised from dead by spammer. Pretty sure OP made their decision ages ago. ;)
  • Ah. Didn't notice that it was old before I replied.

Hopefully an admin can close the thread?
