On last couple of days a box saying.....
Another instance running
Configuration system failed to initialize
..............
What is this doing or not doing, how do I fix it please?
Toshiba laptop if that helps.

The message simply means that it is trying to open a program that is already running.
My guess would be malware trying to start from multiple vectors on startup and conflicting with itself.
in the search box type msconfig. Go to the startup tab. see if you have more than one of the same program trying to start.
Also look in "startup" inside the all programs menu.
Run malwarebytes0
