Definition of the word import from Cambridge dictionary :-
specialized computing : to copy information from one computer or computer program to another:
You IMPORT it into word.
The thing you click might be under a header called insert - but I wasn't advising what to click, I was advising what to do.
My original post stands
In Office the term insert and import are not interchangeable IMO.0 -

In computing 'import' normally means opening a different format file, e.g. opening a CSV or TXT file with Excel - when you often have different options to play with for converting a file from one format to another.
ETA: similarly, 'export' means saving in a different format.
That said, indeed, I don't see an explicit 'import' option in Word.0 -
I'm on an iPad though, I don't seem to be able to do that, grumbler.0

No it doesn't - not at all - If you import data, then you bring in data from an external (to that program) source .. Just because your experience in this has been importing different formats, it doesn't alter the definition of the word.
Anyway, by your reckoning then the word import is entirely valid, as the OP would be IMPORTING a jpg into MSword0 -
I also have no knowledge of what and iPad can do, but it sounds like it doesn't really handle PP well. Do you not have access to a University PC that you can do it on then send the resulting Word document back to the iPad?0

There are computers at uni but I want to write my notes on each slide during the lecture. Really hoping there's a way to do this.0

Get a proper laptop or MS Surface for uni instead of this overpriced toy.
Re taking a screenshot on iPad just google 'ipad screenshot'. Reportedly it's pressing the sleep/wake/power button and the Home button at the same time.0
