O/S Daily Wednesday 7th October 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Still dark, very wet underfoot after raining most of the night and looks like it’s still raining.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit but I’ll wake him shortly so he can get ready for school.

Dinner last night was sausages, mash, carrots, green beans, broc, broad beans and gravy, ice cream or dessert from the tins for those that wanted some. Tonight we’re having beef casserole from the freezer – it’s defrosted over night and now in the fridge – hope there’s enough meat in it – I’ll do roast pots and veg with it, Yorkshires and gravy – I’m not to bothered about having the meat, I like just the meat gravy and veg so if the meat is short that’s what I’ll do.

Work yesterday wasn’t too bad, and back at my normal office today so I’ll see how it goes. Only working until lunchtime, have a meeting with the school this afternoon at last regarding DS2 and hopefully I’ll get some answers as to what has been going one – not expecting them to apologise as I have very little tolerance left for them, if they had done what they said they were going to do before the summer holidays I wouldn’t be needing to do this! If DS2 had been in his earlier years at senior school I would have definitely got him out of there, I’m so disappointed and disgusted quite honestly that this is the way they treat people. Sorry that turned into a bit of a rant …

Rant over ………………. We’ll see what gems they come up with this afternoon!
Will do what chores I can when I get home from work before going back out to the meeting with the school.

Keep safe and well x

    Morning everyone.

It's still dark outside so can't tell anything. I woke up very suddenly from a deep sleep and lovely dream though I can't remember anything about it.

Yesterday's haircut took about 15 minutes and then I walked through town to post a parcel, pick up a magazine and a bacon roll for breakfast.

Tonight I have my final two hour teaching session so need to do a bit of planning for that. In a couple of weeks I'm starting a daytime teaching session which will mean getting home before darkness sets in. We don't have street lights, or even streets, so it gets pitch black here. Great for seeing stars at night but makes driving just a bit slower.

I'm not getting up just yet, will snuggle down a bit longer.

Hope everyone has a good Wednesday.

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's very dark and windy here but no rain so that's good. Hubby has gone off to work thank goodness as he was in a right old grump this morning. Girls are having breakfast and getting ready for school and the dog is running around like a mad thing.

I am going to get some chicken out for tea tonight. I did make the salmon and cous cous salad which I thought was very nice but I was on my own with that thought so I have lots of leftovers for lunches for the next few days. The macaroni cheese went down a lot better so at least my lot had something for tea.

My friend came over to se me yesterday. She is off to Spain to close up her holiday home and get it ready to put on the market so I won't be seeing her for quite a while. When she gets back we are planning to do some crafting ready for Christmas so I am really looking forward to that.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Morning All

Thought the weather was to be ok today so did loads of washing last night - it's raining! I'll put it on the airers inside instead. DW emptied and salad made for lunch.

DD is meeting me from work for a lift home, she's borrowing the car for a meeting tomorrow that's impossible to get to by public transport. She'll stay for tea but I hope she goes home before the bake off starts!

I have very nearly finished the painting upstairs - I forgot the loft hatch! May catch that when I get back from Spain, I'm a bit short of time and motivation this week.

Yesterday's visit to Stirling Castle was good but a bit wet, the children enjoyed it and that's all that matters. I had one or two little characters in my group but they were very well behaved (well, I did have bag of sweeties in my pocket!).

MM - I bet your DD is welcoming your help with open arms!

    Take care. XX
  • Morning one and all. Right mixed bag of weather in recent days but still unseasonally mild. Sunny all afternoon yesterday and then rain in the evening with a bit of thunder and lightening thrown in! Today going to be much the same.

The "after the weekend" phone call never came from the Royal Liverpool yesterday either. It's easy to forget Mr TA is not their only patient and can't expect priority treatment. Will see what today brings.

I had a real shock yesterday, I happened to notice my wedding ring wasn't there. I never take it off and, although a bit slack, it's never dropped off before. I've had the house upside down and retraced all my jobs (even so far as emptying the freezer I had just unloaded and re-packed tidily) but no sign of it. There is nowhere left to look and all I can hope is that it turns up somewhere unexpected. I feel bare without it.

We have the 3 DGDs here for tea and sleepover so I'd better decide on tonight's meal and get something defrosting. I am on my "girls" monthly wine and carvery night out so won't be eating with them. Have asked DD to stay on a bit and get the two youngest to bed and then Mr TA will be fine with just the eldest one for company. I can't believe I am missing the Bake Off final! I'll watch it on catch up in the morning and pray I don't hear who the winner is before I get chance to watch it! Eldest DGD will be itching to tell me I know and is hopeless at keeping a secret!!

Have a good day all (((((((HUGS))))))) if needed/wanted. JUDI I hope today is a better one. BB brilliant news. CSARINA happy washing and hope you feel better! Take care xxxx

Fish fed, hubby has a cuppa.
I'm setting off in a sec.
Weigh in tonight, I won't have lost any, it's too stressful when hubby's ill, I only got back on plan yesterday.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning :hello:

dumpling How is Max getting on?

Mr tru was in the shower cubicle with Scamps :D There were towels everywhere, I have no idea how everything got so wet, lol. Scamps is mostly white too, he's always coming in with grass stained legs. :D

Master tru and his apprentice were making wooden 4ft high letters, spelling LOVE, for a wedding in a couple of weeks. They were supposed to be working in the church car park but the weather was awful so they brought everything here and worked under my shelter instead. The shelter's not that big so it wasn't much easier here, they spent a lot of time coming in and out of the house when the rain was too heavy. I was trying to cook, they were in my way and kept walking sawdust in. By the end I was ranting 'get outside..... clear this mess up..... who keeps getting coffee in the sugar bowl?!' I was pleased when they left :D

I couldn't use the washing lines yesterday so I need to catch up on washing today. The shopping's being delivered this morning, there were quite a few offers so I've stocked up. Once that's put away and I've tidied and flicked the duster around, I'll settle down to watch the new CSI :D

    Morning all,

I'm struggling with a lack of purpose. I love my own company but there's a limit...I don't think I'm meant to be alone. Hubby working away and Youngest has gone away for a few days. It's not even the weather to go out. Hubby is on about getting the caravan towed to where he is working to keep us all together but that's got to be a last resort as far as I'm concerned.

Went to see Mom on Monday...what a disaster that was....I feel like walking away again as family issues are making it harder for me. Hubby and my girls are telling me to toughen up and I am reminding myself that I knew it wouldn't be easy getting involved again.

Sorry I didn't post much yesterday. I couldn't even attempt to say how I felt...I just wanted you to know I was here but too full of my own self pity to be of use.

TA. I hope you find your ring.

    Onwards and forwards,

    Have a great day all.

  • Good Morning everyone, another rainy start today but it's due to dry up this morning although not be as warm as it has of late. I'm off to the city on the bus to start Christmas shopping (sorry) as I now have lists from everyone I buy for so have some idea what to get. Supper tonight will be fried black pudding and bacon, mashed potato, apple sauce and mushy peas as we're forecast 5 degrees, a cool night, Oh Yes!!!

JUDI love you've a heavy old burden to carry on your own, even on a good day that can be tiring and make you despondent, we're always here for you whether you're bouncing happy or sad and lonely. It's not as good as family or physical friends who can actually come in for a chat and a cuppa but we ARE always here in case you need us, we do care and we all know how you're feeling because we've all been there ourselves. Never feel so alone you feel abandoned pet, we're here 24/7 when you need us. This sadness will pass and you will bounce back and feel level and whole again and we'll all join in the pleasure of knowing you're there! Hugs Lyn xxx.

    Hi everyone,

I'm off to London today to go with DD to see the neurosurgeon. She's made a lot of progress since she saw him in June, when she couldn't even hold her head upright or stand for more than 10 minutes. She's now back at work full time although she's still on pain killers.

Then tonight we have to pick up DS and fiancee from heathrow so I'll miss Bake-ff. I'll watch it when I get back otherwise I'm bound to hear who has won. We'll take their cat back on the way. She's really settled in this time, spending most of her day with me whereas on previous visits she's stayed upstairs most of the time.

    Have a good day.

    Morning all,

Off out with the hound shortly,am putting it off hoping the rain will ease off a bit.Had a good old chinwag when my cousin visited yesterday afternoon, she can see a lot of progress in the house since she last came about 5 weeks ago-sometimes it's hard to see when you're living in the midst of it all.She was charmed by DGS too,is a great dog lover and always brings Ly1a some treats so a nice afternoon had by all :D.She is really enjoying having Mon & Tues off since going part time, like she says the working week is nearly half way through when she starts on a Wed.

Got the BM on again, production can't meet demand at the moment .The bread seems lighter than when I used it in our last house but I am using different flour and yeast,it was all the sm had in but is a def improvement so I'll stick with it ;)

We went to DHs storage unit last night and retrieved some more of our books and other sundries-needing the bread slicer prompted the visit,& I found it after much rooting about. There is so much stuff in there that could be got rid of now :o Anyway this cottage is starting to feel much more like our home now we've got books and pictures :j
TA hope the ring turns up.
Its still raining so will have to get the waterproofs on.Have a good day all x
