Wowcher Mystery Electronics Deal - surprise or scam?

I was feeling optimistic one day and happened upon Wowchers Mystery Electronics Deal, spend either £10 or £15 and receive a mystery item. The advertised list included items such as Refurbished iPad Mini, Refurbished iPhone 5, Apple TV, beats by Dr Dre Headphones, Fitbit, Go-Pro Camcorder, Amazon Kindle, a Powerbank. Sounds good, right? :j I waited and waited and waited, sent a query as to where my item was, received assurances it was on it's way, waited some more and then finally it arrived! I opened it up excitedly to find.....drum roll.......a Selfie Stick!! Ok, it's a bluetooth selfie stick, has a remote control and a car charger, but it's still a (unbranded) selfie stick!! I carried out a quick eBay search for equivalent items and found that I can purchase the same item for £3.99. Even with the addition of the car charger this package is hardly worth even the £15 I paid, never mind anywhere near the advertised items.:mad::mad: Upon my complaint I was informed that whilst they were sorry I was unhappy with my item it was after all potluck as to what I could have received. I can send it back for a refund, I have to pay the postage and they want to issue me a Wowcher Wallet Credit. Am I wrong to be so upset? Am I wrong to want a pre-paid return label? Am I wrong to want my money back not a credit?:question:

That's the pot luck of the mystery prize element of the deal isn't it? Not everyone would have got a high value item. It just wouldn't have made business sense for them.
You gambled that you would get a high value item, but the gamble didn't pay off this time. I imagine there was 1 iPad for every 1000 selfie sticks.0 -
Did they guarantee a 'lower guaranteed worth'
If not then you're probably out of luck. They obviously can't give out lots of good prizes for that price. It was a lottery or gamble.0 -
My main issue is that nowhere on the list of items you could receive does it say selfie stick. I would have been happy with say and Audio to BT Transmitter for the car or one of the other main options, but I received something that's not anywhere on their list of options.

I too made the mistake of falling for their vamped up promise of electronic goods, however when i went to redeem the voucher, at the bottom it stated item would be received from mobile heads. I looked at the website and realised that it's all the stuff that wowcher sells but at vastly inflated prices. I believe that wowcher and other similar deal sites use these types of businesses to inflate what percentage off you are receiving on a deal. The goods on these sites can be bought through sites like ebay for a 5th of the price and to be honest most of it seems tat. I contacted wowcher and all i can get is a wallet credit but i suppose its better than a selfie stick!! I wish there were rules against this kind of bogus engineered selling.:mad:0

IMHO it's a raffle. 6 people get the good prizes, the rest get consolation prizes0

I got a dead albatross , swop you for the selfie stick?0
