Home Electricity gone! will the electric board engineer be free? + generator hiring ?

If a house electricity is fully gone, and the meter outside shows nothing on the reading, and no fuse has been tripped,

it could be an external problem, for them to look into.

If the Eon or southern electric engineers are called out for this,
do they usually charge, to come and look and fix the problem (if they find it) ?

and if they have to connect it to a big generator, which will supply an alternative power supply, and this is to be used for some days?

do they charge for this to be or they borrow it to households for free?

Also, the neighbours houses are not affected, their electricity is working fine

Your DNO (link) will be responsible for getting you back on grid. I think it would have to be a particularly dire issue for them to loan you a generator, and you would only have to pay for any fix if you caused the problem (e.g. you put a digger through their electric cable).

We had our electric go out last week (just two properties) - we called the DNO, they were on site in 10 minutes, assessed the situation, dug up the road within the next hour, jointed new cable where the existing cable had broken under the pavement and we were back on grid less than 9 hours later. I thought that was excellent service!

Maybe you should ask "deliab"? Those who know, will understand...
