Stone tiles for bathroom floor and wall

I have been to Sainbury's homebase and seen some tiles which I like but definately don't like the price.
The floor for which I only need 2 and a half square yards of work out at around £60. They are 20 by 20 tiles which having a small (very) small bathroom are about the size I want.
I then wanted the 10 by ten tiles going three quarters of the way up the wall and the rest in a stone mosaic which come in sheets.
Homebase calculated this would cost me over £800 just for the wall and it really is a small bathroom. The wall coverage for everywhere is about 16 square yards.
I went to mu local tile shop and for the wall there with a discount would be £650.
By the way, homebase had 25% off which was included in the price they gave me.
The stone thing is what I really want, anyone have any ideas where to get them cheaper as I don't want to pay that much.
Sorry for all the questions, i am trying to pick things for the whole house and only have another month to choose everything as I have to move in.

The mosaic, if it is a proper border tile, will cost a small fortune. Borders are going out of fashion (horizontal ones, anyway) but if you do go for it then you should buy proper 30x30cm sheets of mosaic and cut them to size - it works out a lot cheaper!

Are all these tiles made of stone? beige? (I'm guessing) What was the price per square metre in Homebase? I won't shop on Homebase even with their discount days - it's hideously expensive.

I've just done three bathrooms; two of them tiled from floor to ceiling, one entirely in travertine which ended up more than 35 square metres!, one shower enclosure in mosaic for £1200 and they are not cheap tiles - yours must cost the earth! I do find tiles the hardest thing to buy - a lot of them look just rubbish and the rest are £100 per square metre!

Have you looked on ebay? There are nice mosaic stone/pebble tiles and border type tiles on there. Just watch the cost of the postage.

The mosaic tiles are on a sheet rather than the strips and the ones I was looking at were kind of oblongs in beige all along.
Yes all of the tiles are made of stone or travertine.
The floor tiles (10 by 10) wre 13.49 a box with the discount which included 25 tiles.
I am trying to think of a way round it but by still having what I want but for the tiny bathroom that it is feel its too much for tiles.
What do you think of me having the 20 by 20 on the floor and going up half of the wall and then having the smaller ones. As I'm writing this I'm thinking this won't look too good.
I then thought of having paint at the tops of the walls but think this will spoil the effect I am looking for.
I have read lots of your posts and you appear to have lots of experience doing up houses so its great to get your opinion.

That's £54 a square metre with the discount! :eek: Small tiles are generally more expensive than bigger ones, but £54, wowwee!

There's lovely polished porcelain in B&Q for £22something which looks like real, polished stone. Small ones I'm sure they do a brick shaped beige one that's sort of riven. B&Q even isn't that great on price but they have a few gems.

I bought travertine from Topps Tiles they were £4.99 each = £35 per square metre. We got them down to I think £28 (I can check) You can buy it on ebay for about £25 and the pebble tiles I really liked; nearly bought them! I went for the ones I could see though. You can lay in a brick pattern, we went straight as we had brick pattern in another bathroom. Work in Progress :

I would avoid Homebase like the plague personally! Keep looking; independent companies are good - ask for further discounts! Topps, I think, are franchises also and therefore flexible. You must shop hard for tiles!
