I am picking my son late at night on saturday at Luton airport. He has not got his mobile with him. Pl is there anybody on this forum who is very familiar with the layout of Luton airport? I would like to know where I can arrange to meet him if he gets there before me e.g near WHS Smith or Costa. I have checked on the internet, are they near arrivals? It will be about midnight, are there places where you could park for a short while without paying, hubby will stay in the car while I go and get him? I will give him 30 mins to check out, will that be enough? Thanks

tell him you will be at costa coffee, there is a seating row right next to the exit doors. unless he is wearing an invisible cloak you wont miss him walk out of the doors0

Hubby could drop you off at the airport and park outside the IBIS hotel (double yellows) but ok if you stay with car.You could then call hubby when DS and you are ready to be collected. Security is tight at the mo, there is a drop zone but I think it is just 15 minutes stay and it is strictly enforced. I was there on Sunday evening and it was busy .0

I do vaguely remember about the drop zone and the 15 mins free parking but was not very sure since it was a long time. I think, hubby did get out after 15 mins & park on the double lines somewhere. It will be about midnight on saturday and I guess, he will not be hassled at that time of the night. I think 30 mins should be enough for check out from Madrid? Thanks for your help.0

Hi,
I picked my OH up on monday night from there. There are two areas. The nearest to the area is designated the drop off zone, you can wait in there for 15 mins before it costs £5.00 to get out.
The pick up zone is signposted in yellow, in reality it is the short term carpark and will cost £2.50 for up to 15 mins and much more for longer.
If there are two of you picking up I`d whip around the drop area, send someone in to meet the weary traveller and drive to the airport industrial area to await their call. Then round the drop off area again to collect them.
As you go up towards the airport you will go round a roundabout then through a tunnel. The industrial est is the turning off that roundabout. even at midnight the airport areas will be alive and police/security move people on from the roads close by. However there are plenty of places to lurk up there and its only 2 mins drive from the airport.
30 mins should should just do it for customs etc, Luton is not very large so there is little chance of missing him coming out.
Cheers,

i would advise locking your doors whilst youre waiting in that industrial area on your own though0
