When I make a post I cannot create a line break. I type it in and it looks ok but when I review and post it goes continuous. When I go to reply and quote somebody elses posting the line breaks are shown as < br / > . I also cannot add a smiley to my post? :-(( It's been alright for years but something has changed. What am I doing wrong or which setting do I need to change? Please keep it simple.

I've switched back in the edit options to WYSIWYG and tried clicking the Switch editor mode. Nothing seems to happen ie. the arrow never changes to the egg timer indicating changes are being made. Perhaps I need to log out and re log in, if I can remember the password and email I used as it was ages ago; lols. Or do you think doing a system restore would be better. Thanks for your advice.

It's nothing to do with system restore, it is a forum setting. Leave it set to enhanced interface WYSIWYG and try composing a reply and then clicking on the Switch Edit Mode button to toggle it. (No egg timers but you should get smilies etc!)

This is my attempt at composing a reply. I'll do a line break here and a smiley here . Nothing happens when I click switch editor mode On the review it shows as one line with no break and no smiley. The switch editor mode doesn't seem to work?

Which browser are you using, by the way? I use Firefox 2, and it seems to work fine. Apart from the text cursor not blinking when I'm typing here :D

I'm using Firefox original. I haven't upgraded to 2 as some folks said they were getting probs. That was a few months ago. All was working ok with the Forum on Firefox1 till yesterday.
