How to claim PPI

Over the years since the early eighties my husband and myself have had numerous loans for cars and household items and bank loans and would like to find out if we paid PPI. Can anyone suggest where I can start ? I did write to a list of banks a few years ago and had a couple of replies saying not entitled to anything.

Thanks

PPI was a mid 80s product but didnt get mainstream volume until around 1990 onwards. So, whilst it is possible to have it in the 80s, it is not common. The harder thing with 80s is proving you had it as usually documentation is long gone. Car dealers were not regulated until Jan 2005.

Ask each seller if you had PPI and if they say yes then you say you wish to complain about being mis-sold and give your complaint reasons.

    So, you can eliminate those.

Trouble is, if you can't remember whether you had PPI or not, or who provided it, how will remember in what way it was mis-sold?
