Really and what do you think will happen here then as in my view dealing with people from within the industry a letter from the ICO means nothing a fine means they simply close down and re-open again down the line and the MOJ going in they simply hand there licence in meaning that the MOJ can do nothing and again set up somewhere else.
As for data being secure with credit reference agencies, banks and so on, Not a prayer and I know for a fact if I wanted to purchase a list of any banks listing PPI sales it would be very easy to find and purchase, Same thing goes for any data type required.0 -

To be honest, CMC phoenixing is a problem as it used to be in the fnancial advice industry. There are plenty of CMCs out there who have emerged at the same address after the closure of another firm (can't remember the names now, it's been a while but I can guarantee I've seen several. I think Redress Claims were one who were shut down and set up again next door as PPI Adviceline).
As regards the information thing, I would not say it was widespread, banks do have their security procedures, however, I am personally aware of CMCs who have paid employees of either banks or outsourcing companies they use to find customer PPI details for them. No system is totally foolproof, though obviously banks vet staff and outsourcers as widely as possible. Obviously cannot supply evidence, or further details as I am bound by a duty of confidentiality so you'll just have to take my word for it :beer:0 -

I can do but it is easy enough, Go to the ICO website and then the TPS to see who has been fined, Look at the MOJ and Companies house site to see a pattern of names that match with a Director liquidating a Company after a fine is imposed and then re-opening a new CMC quickly thereafter.
I know of around 5-6 this has happened to this year alone, Not stating that they all got fined by ICO and TPS 2 have done so but dubious trading then closing and opening again elsewhere to either avoid inspections, Pay clients or pay tax and vat.0 -

Maybe, too, it will spot CMCs who complain about supposedly missold SERPS policies and then churn that very policy themselves.0
