Integrated appliances - can they be freestanding?

My partner and I are due to complete on our new home next week and we will need to buy a washing machine.
We are planning to install a brand new kitchen within the next 6-12 months but we need to buy a washing machine before then.
We ultimately want our appliances to be integrated so don't want to waste money on a freestanding machine now if we're going to have to change it. If we purchase an integrated washing machine now, can it be left freestanding until we get our new kitchen, or are they built in such a way that they need to be integrated immediately?
Sorry if this sounds like a daft question! :rotfl:

Yes you could use it without integrating it. They have a different shape at the bottom to accommodate the kitchen plinth and the unit door attaches to the washing machine. Those are the only differences between free standing and integrated.0

Ahhh okay, I wasn't sure if they needed to be supported in a different way to freestanding washing machines.
Good to know, and thank you for the speedy response! 0
