Sky Customers Service Agents are Rubbish

Just wanted to let everyone know about my rubbish experience with Sky customer service agent. I called to renew my package and see if I could get any good deals with them. I was passed around to 3 different people before my call was answered by a very arrogant person named Jamal. After telling him for the third time why I was calling he put me on hold to see if could offer me anything at all.

After some time I was given an offer which was slightly higher then the previous one and I told him I wasn't prepared to pay that amount to which he replied "oh so you can't afford an extra £6". I was shocked as he was very rude about it and I said well I would like to leave Sky as you are can lose a customer but can't offer any good deals and he was like "well you are prepared to leave Sky too over extra money". By that time I had enough of his rudeness and told hime to put me through to his manager. I was on hold for 15 minutes while he went to find a manager and even then in the background I could hear him say things about me.
I am not impressed with Sky's customer service, they should invest money in training their staff who are polite to customers and realise that not everyone is as well off as them and can't afford to pay extra money even if it is £1.

Did you call the retentions department, they usually have better offers. Or best cancel sky and speak to the retentions team.

  • No I didn't go to retentions department as they kept putting me through to different people. I will keep that in mind in future. Thanks

It looks as though you may have been unlucky enough to be put through to one of their few (possibly only) foreign call centre.

I've never spoken to a rude advisor, but the retention offers made by individuals to widely vary. I progressed from a few pounds off line rental, through free broadband to free line rental, last year; all within a couple of days.

In a nutshell, thats why I prefer to deal with Sky via online chat - my last dealings with Sky via phone involved an agent who just ignored what I was saying, and talked over me at every opportunity ; I suspect, in the hope that I would just go away !!

You won't ever get decent offers unless you say you want to leave and get through to retentions. First tier CS do not have the authority to dole out the meaty freebies, though of course you still need to negotiate.

Also , dealing with the phone and tv retentions separately seems to give added bonuses. (I dealt with phone, last year and was told he thought I could get 50% off tv. However, when transferred to 'tv' the new bod gave me an unrequested credit as well)
