If by company check you mean companies house, those are all limited companies.

I know what you're saying Stevie, but I just wanted to check if people thought the situation was in any way odd and should in anyway be a cause for concern, prior to me approaching them suggesting VAT fraud.

I should probably say that I received the initial quote for the work in May from Company 1 (now disolved), signed a contract in July with Company 2, received an invoice in September from Company 3, with the VAT number on it for Company 4. The names were all similar enough for me to not notice until now and I honestly can't remember what ultimately looked suspicious enough to give concern.

I know that they haven't continued their Gas Safe Register membership, or their Federation of Master Builders membership either, so was concerned that they maybe hadn't bothered with VAT either.
