Fraud detection- what happens?

Options
Barclaycard left an answerphone message for me today asking me to contact them with regards to fraud, and when I logged into my account a bunch of small individual transactions on the same day that I had nothing to do with did indeed appear, with a further bunch pending. I called them and they blocked my card and asked me to cut it up, and they said they'd send a form to detail the fraudulent transactions so that they can investigate and refund me for them. Any advice- what's the turnaround for cases being solved?
And what do they look into? I'm relieved and quite impressed that they managed to detect it so soon and before the damage was too great, I'm ust wondering what the next steps are.

  • There wont be any investigations on their part, they will simply write it off as a loss, wouldnt be cost effective to look into it.

They have closed down the compromised account so those details are now useless and apart from sending you a new card that will probably be all that happens.

These small transactions are picked up relatively easily by the banks as they are normally outside peoples usual spending patterns and are usually an indicator of a test transaction being done by a fraudster to see if he/she has a 'live' card before they rinse it.
