card issuers name changes

Hi Folks, I have finally got around to looking at PPI claims for credit cards I have had. The problem with some are that the issuers have changed names over the years, so I was hoping that someone could shed light on the following.
On my credit report I have HSBC Finance 1999 - 2010. Now I had a Marbles card that I believe turned into a Beneficial Finance card over roughly the same time, would they all be one and the same?
Again, on my credit report I have Opus Mastercard 2000 - 2010. I had an Associates Gold Visa card which I think turned in to a Citi card, once again does anyone know if they are all the same?
Many thanks for your help.
