Seriously how long does it take to get this account up and running? I applied over 2 weeks ago, got a text the next day saying my application was successful, about 6 days later they sent me a form to sign and return, which I did same day, that was 8 days ago and this morning I got a text again saying my application was successful.

    Not impressed so far.
applied for 4, 2 for me, 2 for oh, and they were set up, pins and debit cards( after form signed and returned) all completed in 10 days and money in each account,£3k, including weekend.
  • thanks all - applied on sunday, returned signed forms on wednesday 3 x accounts opened and funded friday - good work tesco :)
did have existing savings account which would have sped things up!

It took just over a week for my account to be opened which is okay by me.

The internet saver account, whilst not fantastic, pays 1.5% which suits my current circumstances reasonably well. It's not going to make me rich but it'll be a decent short term home to my spare cash as I've just opened accounts with the main interest payers (other than BoS who declined me).

Just opened 2 for me, 2 for wife, and going to do a joint later.

How do you go about getting 2 accounts? I've just registered for the current a/c, but could see no option to have 2?

    TIA

Just apply again, but log into Internet banking for it.

Ah!, I logged into Internet banking to make my application as I was advised to do so by Tesco Customer Service. I already have an Internet Saver.

Could I just do the reverse?, or have I cocked it up as they said not logging in would mean I would have to call them when instructed to do so in the application process.?

    TIA

You did right By logging in for a second A/c, or first ?, means all your data is already filled in for you, from your IS a/c and/or first Current A/c.
saves a lot of hassle, and possibly quicker service, as in my case.
    just a shame they don't do 2 plus a joint a/c.
  • Now see, it would never have occurred to me to try and register for a second account as I would have thought the system would already say you have an account, pretty much like a credit card application, but for this thread. :D

That's yet another example of what can happen if people don't read the T&Cs. If you had read them, you would know that they say
You can't have more than two Tesco Bank Current Accounts
  • Why don't they make things easier (for both parties) by limiting it to one account but with a £6000 max?...!

Many people prefer to operate more than one current account as it helps them improve their budgetting/financial management.

    e.g.
First account for regular and essential bills (e.g. rent, utilities, Council Tax, insurance, etc)

Second account for whats left for day to day spending (e.g. food, going out, etc)
