To be fair - and I'm purely going on what you have said here - your doctors evidence you submitted stated you are likely to try do part time work soon. It could well boil down to how they interpreted this along with points allocated.

    Thanks :)

Tbh - I always just assumed I would get put in the work group - hence not really thinking about it too much. Im awaiting a decision for an injury pension any day now ( which deducts ESA payments and IIDB anyway ) so it * may * be kind of academic - because if the contribution based eventually stops - the pension wont deduct its value so money is the same.

You should really complain now if you think they didn't complete an assessment not wait for the result. If you feel she/he did something wrong then lodge a formal complaint now.

There is nothing in the original post to suggest that a complete assessment wasn't completed. It was a short assessment but that may well be all the HCP required to make a decision. To complain now would be utterly pointless and, I suspect, stressful for the OP.
Wait for the result as there is more than likely nothing to complaint about.

UPDATE - I saw in my bank a pending payment for tomorrow which is the back pay so I knew I got approved. I called up and found out I've been put in the support group :)

That is good news, must be a relief to finally have a decision.

In general, if the HCP believes you are likely entitled to the support group, then they will leave to consult with a superior and see if their decision is accepted, before terminating the interview.
(This was at least the procedure a year ago, it may have changed).
I would recommend requesting a copy tomorrow from the DWP.

The HCP is there to assess and report, the outcome is determined by a DWP decision maker or are you saying this is no longer the case?

The final decision is down to the Decision Maker but they will generally go along with the HCP findings if the scoring puts the claimant into the WRAG or Support Group. If the HCP score leaves the claimant a few points short of one of the groups, the DM often contacts the claimant to discuss the situation further to see if there is a possibility of them being awarded enough additional points to get into the groups.
The HCP should certainly not comment to the claimant on whether or not they believe the outcome will be.

Thanks all ! The wait for this wasnt too bad actually - 24 or so weeks from start of claim. Similar time to the IIDB I was awarded in March @ 50% which I understand is quite high for mental health Industrial Injury.

Im still waiting on my last claim against my pension scheme for injury benefit - that is the big one and a medical report is due any day now ( same report DWP used to put me in the support group ) Ive been waiting since April and every day has been agony lol
