Hudl2 users may have noticesd that tesco has now made android 5.1 available. You'll see this by way of a hudl 'star' in the top left corner. Slide down and touch to upgrade.
In our house we have 2 hudl's one has android 5.1, upgraded last week. The other remains on android 4.4.2 thankfully.
Well you may recall what a mess Google made of the android upgrade for nexus 7's, mentioned many times on this forum ( I actually sold my N7 as a result of that fiasco), well its the same old story all over again. I'm somewhat surprised that tesco allowed this to happen ( maybe they didn't have a choice, who knows the politics behind these things).
Out android 5 hudl is laggy and consumes battery juice like nobody's businesses. It's frustrating to use and may well be heading towards the bin if it can't be downgraded.
So, my advice is igore the update, or your hudl may well become a device of imense frustration.

You possibly might have some outdated apps that don't play well with android lollipop (5.1) as a suggestion try making sure all your apps are up to date.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -
Its the old old Android update story .
I prefer a clean install on any Android OS update as that's 99% problem free .0 -

Definitely try this, on my Nexus 4 I found that the BBC Weather App was draining my battery, updates didn't improve things so I got rid of it and replaced it with the Met Office app and all has been fine since then.0 -
Loaded Lollipop onto my Hudl a few days ago and then let most of the apps update themselves. So far things seem to work and the interface looks slicker. It also looks easy to add multiple user accounts so that more than one person can use the tablet with their own individual settings. The only downside I've noticed so far is that it takes slightly longer to boot.0

Those of you who may use USB items should look at the following forum, as after the update some H2s work and some do not with some USB stuff.

No it restores the latest firmware that has been downloaded /installed .
Factory reset after install of 5.1 restores 5.1 out of the box state and wipes all data .0
