China based seller but says items are london located, good reviews etc. Can anyone explain any pitfalls or advice, and is it just a case of delivering from the london location or something else.
Chinese phone, Chinese seller, fulfillment centre in Portsmouth, VAT number in Swansea

I tried this and gave up... for more like 60 pounds you can get something from Amazon with far more consumer protection.
I looked on Ebay for UK-based sellers, but most of them, although claiming to be in the UK, actually had business addresses in China. I wouldn't want the hassles of possible customs charges, and above all needing to return it to China if something went wrong.0 -

Yeah, it's worth checking around for any UK deals. There are plenty of basic smartphones you can cheap and there's likely to be more sales on leading up to Christmas.
For example, you can get a Huawei Ascend Y330 from £29.99 at the carphonewarehouse. Might have to pay £10/15 for a top up on PAYG, but still a good deal and I think their phones are often unlocked (best to double check) so if you could go with the cheapest option in that case.
That's just the first one I saw. Plenty of other places to check.
Plus you can be certain that it's safe to use and no worries about possible custom charges or issues with returning if it doesn't work right. Also if you have any issues with it or don't know how to do something you're much more likely to be able to find advice/the answer online if it's a known brand.0 -
