Moved house, faf on with NPower

Hello Everyone!!!

I moved house in August, I have been with NPower a number of years and had no major problems.

So I informed them I was moving, gave move in date, meter readings etc, then I get told that the electric meter is showing as a pre pay meter not a credit meter. My landlord told me that he installed prepay meters but the tenant who lived here before me changed it to a credit meter as it was easier for her.

So I explained it is a credit meter and they told me I would have to wait for it to change on the system before I could set up my account, I got a bill last month for gas from my move in date addressed "to the occupier" I rang to see if I could get this changed into my name but got told to bin them and they were still waiting for the electric to change over on the system.

Basically I'm having to save up money every month for my gas and electric, I take meter readings ever Monday but every time I ring Npower I keep getting told "We can't set it up yet" I'm getting sick of spending time and money being on hold on the phone trying to sort out this issue as I know I'm probably going to get a massive bill :(

Any tips/ideas what to do? I have DM'd the complaints team on twitter and they are looking into it but all I want to do is pay DD for what I use!!

They expect you to save your pennies to pay the bill when it eventually arrives? How terrible!

I just wish my supplier would give me what amounts to an interest free loan.

No matter what type of meter the supplier thinks you have, there is no reason they cannot put the supply into your name, nor take a start reading from you.

My suggestion would be to follow the suppliers complaint procedure if you really want to gee them up a bit. They know that if they don't resolve the issue with you within 8 weeks, they may then have the ombudsman on their back. (if you elect to take that option)
