Parking eye tower road Newquay

Options
Hi All, So it looks like I'm the latest victim of the parking eye asking for £100 for parking at Towers road park Newquay. My car is a company car so I received the letter showing my car entering and leaving the site. I entered at 11.56 after being guided in by the large signs directing me to parking. My girlfriend walked over to the machine and then realised you had to enter your car reg. As I had just changed my car she walked back to the car noted the reg and entered paying for 2 hours. We got back to the car park before the time was up to avoid a fine after a lovely beach walk I had to change my shoes remove some extra layers and look at sat nav to get out of Newquay being from Essex we didn't know the roads at all. The letter sent shows my car leaving the carpark at 14:07 .As soon as I got the letter I looked in the car and found the pay and display ticket showing parking was covered 12-14:00. The letter I received is saying I was technically on their land for 2hours 11 mins and I only cover 2 hours. I couldn't believe this and was shocked at this parking system that I've never encountered before. After reading a number of threads I feel I should appeal but wanted to check with you guys I had a good case or if I stood no chance . any advice appreciated :-).

I have been sent the landowners details to complain to them direct but I just wanted people's views on if I have a good case to complain. Kind regards

What is it with Newquay and parking companies? The Tourist Board must be tearing their hair out. Why cannot they take these landowner aside and tell them the damage their contractors are inflicting on the town.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

Appeal giving a copy of your ticket and stating the new code of practice requires a ten minute grace period for overstay and they only allowed 7

Another thing worth doing at present is to write to your MP explaining what's happened, and ask him/her to sign up to the Parliamentary Early Day Motion, and also for him/her to write to the MP for Newquay asking HIM to sign up to the EDM as well (The latter seems more concerned with the effect of seagulls on local tourism than the acticvities of ParkingEye. See the thread entitled 'Parliamentary Early Day Motion' for more ideas on this).

Newquay is not far for me on a day trip & I must have been lucky in the past but since following all the threads on here for the last month or so I certainly won't be venturing there for pleasure in the future. It's just not a nice enough place to risk all the hassle that can come with parking the car. The tourist board can strike me off as a visitor due to the behaviour of these lowlife

I just wonder if the Newquay Tourist Board are fully aware of all this hassle!

Read this, a person at new (Ombudsman Service) POPLA stage re Tower Rd:

HTH at POPLA stage - we would hope you have appealed using the template from the NEWBIES thread by now, not saying who parked the car?

This operation where they have ANPR and p&d machines with 2 different 'parking' starting times (yet they favour the timing the driver is oblivious to: the one most disadvantageous to consumers) is so very obviously unreasonable and unfair that Newquay Trading Standards need informing and putting a 'bomb' under them to actually do something about PE for once.

    They are (or act) impotent.

Hi Coupon-mad , thanks for the link much appreciated. I have today received my 2 rejection letters from Parkingeye with my Popla reference code. I will be using them template from the link you sent to base my appeal on. I honesty am shocked and disgusted how they are trying to claim £100 from 11mins not accounted for by the ticket I purchased. I will post on here what I intend to send . Any help would be much appreciated thanks all .

sorry I should have said , I used the "newbies" template not admitting who parked there. I also have the original copy of the ticket I used to pay and display.

Good, but be very careful not to get too carried away, don't alter the example so much that you add by mistake: 'I honesty am shocked and disgusted how they are trying to claim £100 from 11mins not accounted for by the ticket I purchased' nor 'I also have the original copy of the ticket I used to pay and display.'

Both of the above give away the driver (or suggest it, and we don't know how much the new POPlA Assessors may try to infer) so be careful only to say 'the driver's P&D ticket'. Like in the example, you can say you were an occupant of the car.
