I'm seeking advice on the best route for the title's trip either way. I'm likely to have to take it once a week for the next few months. I went via the A61 direct last week. The innumerable traffic lights, slow traffic in general, peak commuter times, speed restrictions (camera vans are an issue, I'm no saint), accidents (there was one just before Harrogate on the way back) are factors. I'm looking for the best route to avoid the likelihood of these. Cost is not an issue.

Another route looks to be A1, A64, B6159 Harehills Lane, Ashley Rd, Beckett St.

Outsider maybe A1, M1 to Jctn 45, Pontefract Lane, East St, Marsh Lane, Beckett St.

Opinions please.

I would be tempted to go A1(M) route, although have seen a few camera vans nr Boroughbridge. Should be less traffic than the harrogate route which has more bottle necks than Ben Shaws pop factory.

Also get a decent sat nav with a good speed camera database if your right foot is on the heavy side and have a look on the piston heads yorkshire page as there is a list of all the undercover BiB cars on the M1.
