  • Good afternoon everyone. A lovely sunny day here. Washing on the line and about to come in. I feel a little sad that this lovely weather is about to come to an end.

We have been having problems with our internet. We keep loosing our connection. Hopefully now it is back on it will stay on.

Our living room is covered in glitter from the grandson's artistic creations. It is everywhere including the kitten who is now black and sparkly. Grandson has now gone home and I am left to sort it all out. Time to put on some loud music and get cleaning I think.

    TA glad all went ok.
RR hope all goes well for Noodles.

Hope everyone has a good day x
  • Good afternoon everyone,

Well another lovely day, although by all accounts the last one for a while.:)

I have the house to myself so I have had a good clean through and mopped all the floors and cleaned the bathrooms. 2 loads of washing on the line, so will do lots of ironing later :(

I am going to wash the windows inside in a moment, when I can summon up the enthusiasm :D

I have a butternut squash and lentil stew in the slow cooker for tonight's dinner as everyone will be quite late back I think.

Mrs LW I like the sound of a cheese and lentil roast - do you have a recipe please?

Mrs TA do hope you get good news about the scans. sorry to hear about the journey home, raucous behaviour is never good.

    Fingers crossed for noodles.

(((((hugs))))) to everyone have a good afternoon and evening x.

  • Certainly do Wealthygirl

Lentil and Cheese Roast serves 6 easily

    6 oz split red lentils
    1 pint vegetable stock
    1 large onion diced
    1 carrot grated
    2 tablespoons olive oil
    1 oz butter
    1 large teaspoon yeast extract
    6 oz grated cheddar
    1 egg beaten
fresh ground black pepper salt to taste if needed
    1 teaspoon dried sage
    I teaspoon dried thyme
brown breadcrumbs to thicken if needed
(A chopped apple stirred through it is nice as is chopped ripe tomato)

Line a 2 lb loaf tin with grease proof or a cake liner

Cook the lentils in the stock until completely broken down
heat the oil and butter and gently saute the onion and carrot until softened, then combine all the ingredients in a large bowl and mix together well, if the mix looks a little loose then add some breadcrumbs to thicken it up and mix in well. Put into the lined loaf tin and bake for 45 minutes at 190 degC/ 170 deg Fan/375 deg F/ Gas mark 5.

Nice served hot with roast potatoes, green veg and mint sauce also nice served cold with salad and makes a great moist sandwich with some chutney. Hope you enjoy the recipe, Lyn xxx.
  • Thank you very much Mrs Lurchwalker, for that recipe.

It sounds lovely, I think I will make that tomorrow and do roast potatoes and all the trimmings as we shall all be home tomorrow for dinner at the same time. :D

  • HOWMUCH. Yes we have been given similar warnings as you did. Whilst he's in hospital he's to use plastic cutlery, paper plates etc that can be thrown away. his own kettle to make coffee. He's been told to take a book, jigsaw or such, although he will have a tv. My friends DIL had the same treatment as you did for thyroid cancer. She was only young, in her 20's with a little girl who had to stay with her grandma for safety reasons. She was in hospital for ages with the treatment. Until you have it to face you've no idea just how many different types of radiotherapy there are have you! Nor, come to that, how many different types of cancer there are.

I seemed to get loads of jobs done today, including a mountain of washing, as well as the bedding, and loads of ironing. It's feet up now ready and waiting for the Strictly result show. I think my money would be on Iwan to go tonight if I were a betting person! Have a nice evening all xx
