O/S Daily Sunday 4th October 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them.

Now light, dull, and overcast, but dry underfoot.

DH and myself are both awake and enjoying first cuppas of the day. We'll be having egg and bacon sandwiches for breakfast as we're going out late morning/lunchtime and will be out until this evening, we're going to eat with friends later.

Work was horrendously busy yesterday but it made the morning fly past but I earned my money, I shouldn't have been doing the job I was doing on my own but all my colleagues were rushed off their feet too. It'll be busy again on Monday no doubt, when I'm doing the same job yet again!

Today we be an enjoyable day, as we're attending a caravan meeting, and don't really have any work/organising to do, so can enjoy catching up with friends we haven't seen for a while. Before we leave this morning we need to take the car to the car wash. I want to get the pack ups done before we leave so if we're late back they're already sorted.

    Have peaceful Sundays x

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning everyone.

    Thanks for the thread nmlc.

Still loads of white / grey cloud out there though the sun is peeking out from behind it.

I spent most of the day driving down to see the new car and back. It's lovely so will soon be mine. Lovely man at the dealership, i really wanted to avoid the largest car dealer in Scotland and am delighted that I managed it - most of their staff are dreadfully rude. This chap was really nice, especially when he agreed to take my car in PX despite the new dent I put on it. Typical, had the car four years without a bump or mark and just when I want to change it the car gets damaged!

The chap is going to do the plate transfer for me too (got my own) which is fab too. All in all a worthwhile journey down. Then I did a little shopping on the way back.

Wasn't Strictly so good last night? Great dancing so early on (mostly) was a joy. Then Dr Who was a thrill too, I watched them both in bed and then went to sleep.

i have no idea what today will bring. There's plenty of food in the fridge so I probably should make some one portion cottage pies for the freezer. They'll be handy to stick on the stove if we have power outages this year.

    I hope everyone is well.
  • Morning one and all. It sounds like we must make the most of today as it's all change tomorrow. I want to wash our bedding (when Mr TA vacates it!)and hang it outside to dry as SK is a nightmare to dry indoors.

Thank you all so much for your good wishes and kind thoughts. I can't tell you how much appreciated it is to have such lovely on-line friends. (And somebody to off-load to when I need to.)

Our train journey to Liverpool was uneventful and we were so glad we hadn't decided to drive. We dropped our bags at the hotel and went straight to the Royal Liverpool. We were a bit early so they gave us coffee and biscuits! The scan and explanations took all afternoon. The scan is to finally confirm Mr TA is suitable for the Radionuclide therapy. This is far more complex than we were lead to believe by Leeds. It involves stays in hospital in total isolation which weren't expecting. Someone is going to ring us after the weekend with all the details of our next visit etc. We are trying not to worry about what's ahead but it's not easy.

Anyway the hotel was lovely and we were glad to get back there to relax after a very long day - there was a bottle of wine with my name on it I can tell you! We left lunchtime yesterday and the return journey to Leeds was a nightmare!! We got a seat ok but the train ended up packed with standing room only as it went along. Noisy groups going to football matches and days out etc. The final straw was a big group of ladies on a hen do, all clutching bottles and glasses and raucous laughter all the way. We were so relieved to get to Leeds and change to a quieter train home.
We unpacked our little bags and fell asleep on the sofas!

Well have a good day all (((((((HUGS)))))))) if needed/wanted. A big one for JUDI too. I know too well what you are going through, my mum ended up just like a spoiled child too. I could write a book about those years of my life. Take care all xxx

    Morning All

Overcast this morning but dry and should brighten up. I have a small load of washing so will put it out.

The builder called round yesterday so we could settle the bill and he ended up doing a few bits and bobs, one was to put new batteries in the heating display, we checked the heating worked and the house was warm. Had friends round for dinner so lit the fire and thought it was getting hot in the house - found out at 2.30 this morning that the heating was still on and it was 21 degrees! Not a good nights sleep!

I cooked a piece of ham and it was delicious, loads left so that will go in the freezer for another day. Will keep some out for my salads this week.

Going to meet DD later for a wander in town, we were going to go out on our bikes but there is a big run on so probably wont get far. Maybe another day.

Judi, hope your Mum's mood improves.
TA - Glad all went well.
Gers - Good news on the car.
HH - Hope DH feels better soon.
tru - wish I was nearer, I would love to walk Scampi.

Better go for a shower. Enjoy Sunday. Take care. XX
  • Morning all
I got the downstairs housework done yesterday so it's upstairs today. I have washing on the line, it isn't supposed to rain so fingers crossed.
I also sewed up some holes in 3 of DGD's teddies and ordered new zips for their onesies.
I have taken another £200 of orders for my new venture so that all helps.
The fish have been fed, hubby has a cuppa & will have a cooked breakfast when he gets up.
I'm doing lamb chops & hasselback potatoes for lunch, I'll have chicken as the lamb chops are too fatty for me, I will also cook a gammon joint & slice it for hubby's sandwiches next week.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Good Morning everyone, our last nice day for a while I think and we've milky cloud, very dewy lawns and it's definitely not so warm as it has been. Going to be on my own again for a couple of days DD1 has a broken lock on one of her doors so He Who Knows is going up today to change the barrel and make all secure again. Cookie walk at lunchtime in the sun shine which I'll enjoy. Plans for lunch off so I'll just fridge graze today and we'll have the Lentil and Cheese Roast I was planning to make tomorrow instead.

TA glad you're back home safe, rotten luck on the train journey home though, I hate raucous behaviour anywhere, on a train where you're stuck not good at all. Hope you're both rested and better today!

Have yourselves a nice day everyone, Lyn xxx.

    Morning all,

Yesterday was pleasant but tiring. I'm not a fan of travelling these days but at least I'm not the driver. Hubby has clocked up over 1000 miles this week as well as doing a 44 hour manual job. I'm not sure how he's managing it. He's been doing this for 5 weeks now and in the past when he's done it bad health has kicked in by now. Anyway once his work stuff was out of the way we managed to do a little sightseeing. We ate our and the weather was good.

Today is left to catch up on what we normally do on a Saturday. Food shopping and hubby needs to cancel Youngests mobile phone contract as he has taken on his own. I need to pop in Debenhams too.

    Onwards and forwards,

    Have a great day all.

First morning all week it has not been misty so will hang out yesterday's washing that was out on the line all day .

Fed and sorted out cat - her doting owners (dd and sil) will pick her up this afternoon. House is full of bits of black fluff but can't vacuum till she has gone as she panics at the sound of the machine.

Local supermarket opens at 10 and I need beef, veg, milk and potatoes so will go down there once the washing is outside.

    TA

Glad the hospital visit was so thorough but sorry the trip back was so eventful.

Having a coffee before I get started and see you all later.

    Hugs to all.

  • Morning ((((((((((hugs))))))))))if you need one.

Dull morning, OH says it's not too cold out. The laundry from the washer is still on the line. I do not usually leave it out overnight, but despite us hand wringing it, it was still sopping, so out it stayed. OH says it's just slightly damp so will bring it in and put it on the airier in the sewing room.

We managed to plant a lot of the bulbs yesterday, have a few still to go in, I cut up yogurt pots to make markers so we know where they are. That way I will not go go digging them up by mistake.

TA I hope the scan proves that Mr TA can have the treatment, even though it will mean time in isolation. Shame your trip back was so noisy, I expect you were both exhausted when you got back.

Right time to get my butt moving and do something for my living, need to get the rest of the bulbs in, that will be most of what I want to get done in the garden apart from keeping it tidy through the winter.

    Morning all,

Beautiful day here I have the bedding in the wm and will hang it out after, will get dd to strip hers later too.

Some good news re Noodles ! I got a call last night from the dog rescue place, an older couple had been in touch with them, they lost their staffie a week ago and they are distraught without him they have said that they need a dog in their lives !! So they are coming to see Noodles today, they are both retired and live in a huge house with a massive garden which backs onto woodland !! Honestly it sounds so perfect for her :D the only concern they have is that she pulls on the lead and as they are getting on they are worried she may be too strong, so please keep your fingers crossed that they love her as much as we do ! It will be hard to let her go but its the right thing for her.

So I need to bath Noodles this morning, she had such a good run in the woods yesterday and being white she is a bit grubby, I want her to look her best :D

Right better get on, have good days all, TA im glad it went well xx
